Cambodian Senate President Hun Sen said on February 11 that security forces had foiled a plot to attack his residence in Takhmao city, Kandal province, using unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).
"I just want to confirm that in the past few weeks, a drone attack on my house was planned," Mr Hun Sen said at the inauguration of a school building in Kandal province, in southern Cambodia, and his speech was broadcast live by TVK, according to Xinhua.

Mr Hun Sen, who is also president of the ruling Cambodian People's Party (CPP), said one of the masterminds had been arrested in Takeo province, also in southern Cambodia.
Mr Hun Sen also said that security forces foiled the drone attack plot after he received a secret voice message about the plot.
"Be alert, the plan to attack my residence in Takhmao with drones is real. Those involved must remember this and leave Takeo. Supporting such an attack threatens national security," Mr. Hun Sen said, according to the Fresh News portal.
"This is an act of terrorism and I would like to call on foreigners to be cautious and refrain from supporting terrorist activities. Foreigners must not interfere in Cambodia's internal affairs," Mr. Hun Sen emphasized but did not elaborate.
Mr. Hun Sen (73 years old) has become the president of the Cambodian Senate since April 2024 after resigning as Cambodian prime minister in August 2023, transferring power to his eldest son, Mr. Hun Manet, according to Xinhua News Agency.
