Consumer price index in May in Nghe An decreased by 0.43%

In May 2024, gasoline and oil prices were adjusted down, people's demand for goods and services decreased compared to the previous month; food and foodstuff prices decreased due to market prices, rice export prices decreased and abundant supply, which were the main reasons for the consumer price index (CPI) in May 2024 in Nghe An to decrease by 0.43% compared to the previous month.

Of the 11 main groups of goods and services, 6 groups had price indexes that decreased compared to the previous month, namely: Transportation decreased by 2.76%; Culture, entertainment and tourism decreased by 0.24%; Food and catering services decreased by 0.2%; Housing, electricity, water and construction materials decreased by 0.08%; Clothing, hats, caps, shoes, sandals decreased by 0.08%; Beverages and tobacco decreased by 0.04%.

There are 2 groups of goods whose price indexes did not increase or decrease compared to the previous month: medicine, medical services and education .

There are 3 groups of goods with price indexes increasing compared to the previous month: Household equipment and appliances increased by 0.14%; Other goods and services increased by 0.01%; Post and telecommunications increased by 0.01%.

On average, in the first 5 months of 2024, the consumer price index increased by 5.8% over the same period last year.

There were 11 groups of goods that increased, including: Housing, electricity, water, fuel and construction materials increased by 20.71%; Medicines and medical services increased by 5.56%; Other goods and services increased by 5.28%; Transportation decreased by 4.34%; Food and catering services increased by 3.88%; Beverages and tobacco increased by 2.94%; Culture, entertainment and tourism increased by 2.13%; Education increased by 1.31%; Household equipment and utensils increased by 1.03%; Clothing, hats, caps and shoes increased by 0.98% and Post and telecommunications increased by 0.19%.

Retail sales of goods in May 2024 are estimated at VND 8,194.3 billion.

The gold price index in May 2024 increased by 1.3% compared to the previous month, up 39.52% over the same period. The average for the first 5 months of 2024 increased by 24.87% over the same period. Domestic gold prices fluctuate in the same direction as world gold prices.

The US Dollar Index increased by 0.15% over the previous month and by 5.08% over the same period. The average for the first 5 months of 2024 increased by 1.48% over the same period.

Total retail sales of goods and consumer services revenue in May 2024 is estimated at VND 10,808.2 billion, equal to 92.08% compared to the previous month, up 12.79% over the same period last year. Accumulated in the first 5 months of 2024, total retail sales of goods and consumer services are estimated at VND 63,081.2 billion, up 37.12% over the same period in 2023.

Retail sales of goods in May 2024 are estimated at VND 8,194.3 billion, accounting for 75.82% of total retail sales of goods and services, equal to 96.39% compared to the previous month and up 14.72% over the same period last year. Accumulated retail sales of goods in the first 5 months of 2024 are estimated at VND 45,299.5 billion, up 23.66% over the same period last year.
