Returning to Moc Chau, becoming a tourism ambassador for my hometown

Graduated with a major in finance and banking, working at a bank in Hanoi, Vu Quang Kien decided to leave the city to return to his hometown, which he said was "the call of his hometown Moc Chau, and he wanted to be an ambassador for tourism in his hometown".

Many people gradually know TikToker with an account named "Kien in Moc Chau" that this guy shares with everyone in the role of a freelance tour guide, designing tours for tourists to Moc Chau.

Kien started with photos and short clips introducing destinations in Moc Chau ( Son La ) on his personal page. Talking about his journey, Kien shared: "At first, I just wanted to return to my hometown to live near my family. But the more I stay, the more new and unique things I discover in my hometown of Moc Chau.

I try to preserve those moments through photos and videos with the simple thought of how to share as much as possible about the beauty of my homeland with more people."

* How did Kien's journey to become Moc Chau tourism "ambassador" begin?

- I have had a passion for photography since my student days. When I returned home, that passion still burned in my heart. I started traveling more, holding the camera more, and then sharing those captured moments on social media.

Surprisingly, many of those photos received attention and support from many people, giving me more motivation to continue traveling, exploring and taking photos to tell stories about Moc Chau through each frame. And I also simply thought that I could contribute a small effort to promote local tourism.

* Moc Chau is not unfamiliar to many people. In Kien's eyes, what are the advantages of tourism in his hometown?

- Moc Chau in particular or Vietnam in general can be said to have wild natural beauty and diverse cultural features. We also have a unique cuisine, each region has its own charm.

I think that preserving is not enough, we need to find a way to exploit and spread those values more widely. That will help attract and retain tourists and is also a way for us to appreciate what we have.

* Do you have any experiences in your work in the past to share with young people who also want to pursue their passion for tourism?

- What I am doing is just a small stepping stone for the long journey ahead. These are all jobs that make me feel very comfortable, it is not wrong to say that it is both work and enjoyment.

As a native of Moc Chau, I feel extremely proud every time I have the opportunity to mention my hometown on the tourist map.

Of course, that path is not easy, if not challenging at the beginning. But I believe that once you truly focus, commit and do everything with all your heart, it is not difficult to get into any profession, no matter what it is.

* It's hard to deny the influence of social media, how have you taken advantage of this on your journey?

- For me, spreading the beauty of my homeland is also a way to express my love for my country. Vietnam is very beautiful, there are still many interesting things waiting for you to discover and convey images of Vietnamese nature, people and culture to friends everywhere.

In the context of the strong development of social networks today, I believe that every individual or organization can become a tourism "ambassador". I am no exception when many of the images I took were known through social media channels.

Moc Chau is a land with great tourism potential, and the more I stay, the more I can fulfill my long-standing passions. Although I work in a different field, it stems from my interests and personal strengths, and now it has gradually developed into a job that I want to stick with for a long time.

* Are you investing in a bilingual channel with the hope of promoting your hometown's tourism effectively and further?

- Through my daily work, I try to update the latest information and images to introduce to everyone the most beautiful places in each season and support tourists to make suitable schedules. Many international tourists have come to Vietnam but Moc Chau is still not widely known.

This always makes me feel troubled. Therefore, I am currently trying to gradually build a bilingual media channel with the hope of bringing Moc Chau closer to international friends.
