Finalizing Lunar New Year holiday schedule for nearly 1.7 million students

(NLDO) - Nearly 1.7 million students in Ho Chi Minh City will have Lunar New Year holiday from January 25, 2025 to February 2, 2025.


The 2025 Lunar New Year holiday schedule for students and teachers in Ho Chi Minh City is stated in Decision 3089/2024 of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee on promulgating the 2024-2025 school year schedule for preschool education , general education and continuing education in the city.

Accordingly, the 2025 Lunar New Year holiday for 1.7 million preschool, primary, secondary and high school students is expected to start from January 25, 2025 (December 26) to February 2, 2025 (January 5). Thus, students in Ho Chi Minh City will have a total of 9 days off.

Compared to last year, students in Ho Chi Minh City will have 14-16 days off for Tet. Specifically, for the 2024 Lunar New Year, students will have a break from February 5, 2024 (December 26) to February 18, 2024 (January 9).

Also according to the regulations of the City People's Committee, the Director of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City is responsible for monitoring and directing all levels and sectors to strictly implement the 2024-2025 school year schedule; deciding to let students take time off from school when the weather is too harsh, natural disasters and arranging for students to make up for lost time; arranging time off for teachers during the school year.

In addition, according to the regulations of the City People's Committee, if a holiday falls on a weekend, it will be compensated by the Labor Law and the next working day will be taken off. School principals proactively develop appropriate educational plans for their units in accordance with regulations.

Previously, in September 2024, the Ministry of Home Affairs agreed with the proposal of the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs to have 9 consecutive days off for the 2025 Lunar New Year (At Ty) from January 25, 2025 to February 2, 2025.
