No longer the usual gray concrete patches, the vacant land next to exit 3 of Ba Son metro station has taken on a new look with a lush green lawn planted in straight lines, making young people in Ho Chi Minh City "restless".
A familiar check-in spot for young people, this place has a direct view of Ba Son Bridge, Saigon River and the city symbol - Landmark 81 building.
Knowing about this place through TikTok, Thuy Linh (living in Bien Hoa) and her friends traveled more than 30 km to take photos. "There are many virtual living corners here with the new iconic buildings of the city. The air is also very cool, after taking photos, you can sit and enjoy the breeze," Linh shared. She chose a white dress to stand out against the green grass.
Every time she surfs social media and finds a place with many beautiful photo angles, Minh Thu (living in Phu Nhuan district) and her friends check in. She shared: "This place has many angles that suit the concept we are pursuing. The space is airy, cool and quite deserted," Thu said.
The abandoned building at the foot of Ba Son Bridge with its graffiti-covered walls is one of the prominent check-in spots here. The windows form a natural frame, facing straight towards Landmark 81 - the tallest building in Vietnam.
The angle of taking photos with the building covered with trees or the sunset scene next to Ba Son bridge is also popular with young people. The old and modern features blend together to create a colorful Ho Chi Minh City, both familiar and strange.
By chance, while surfing TikTok and seeing a beautiful check-in photo, Thuy Van (Go Vap) invited her two roommates to experience it. "We prepared from 12 noon but didn't arrive until 16:15 because we got lost and had trouble finding the parking lot. Unexpectedly, the location was quite deserted, airy and had many cool virtual living corners, very suitable for dating with your lover," Van shared.
In the afternoon, a few groups of friends brought food and drinks to sit and enjoy the breeze, watching the sunset dye the high-rise buildings on the other side of the river yellow.
The check-in corner with Ba Son Bridge has not cooled down yet. Although she has taken photos here many times, Huyen Tran (Binh Tan) still comes back. "This is probably my favorite place in Ho Chi Minh City. I came back this time because there is a new lawn," Tran shared.
To take beautiful photos, some young people bring professional cameras, tripods, reflectors and flash...
In the late afternoon, more and more people flock to the lawn to enjoy the breeze, eat, and chat. After work, some office workers also stop here to sit before taking the metro home.
The riverside area also attracts young people thanks to its wide view, allowing them to observe the bustling life of the river city. Since the Ba Son Bridge was lit up, more and more people and tourists have lingered on both sides of the Saigon River to admire the new symbol of Ho Chi Minh City.
Not far away is the Ba Son metro station. As soon as you step off the escalator, the iconic Landmark 81 building appears right before your eyes.
