This is a visit that both Vietnam and the other side have been waiting for for a long time, and has special significance and nature not only in terms of bilateral relations with the two countries but also more.

Deputy Foreign Minister Nguyen Minh Hang said that in previous years, we had few opportunities to exchange high-level delegations with African friends. But recently, relations with the Middle East - Africa region have been improving, with high-level visits taking place very actively.

In the context of complicated developments in the world economy and trade, the President's visit is an important step in implementing the policy of diversifying markets and partners, especially potential partners in Africa - a continent with a population of 1.5 billion people and a growing middle class, rich resources, and an increasingly important role in the world economic map.

Therefore, the Deputy Minister said that better exploiting the large market in Africa is important, contributing to achieving Vietnam's growth target of 8.3-8.5% this year and double digits in the following years.

The visit is an opportunity for us to promote, deepen, elevate and upgrade relations with countries that play important roles and positions in Africa. Egypt and Angola have important roles and positions and are leading economies in the African region.

Egypt has a very important geostrategic position, is one of the most influential countries in the Middle East, Africa and the Arab world, and is the headquarters of the Arab League.

Angola is currently the Chair of the 54-member African Union, an important force at the United Nations and multilateral forums. The President's visit also takes place on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Angola (1975-2025).

"This visit of the President not only affirms the loyal and steadfast relationship formed and forged during the period of national liberation struggle, but also serves as an opportunity for us and the two countries to exchange directions and measures to bring the relationship to a new height in a more practical, effective and sustainable direction..." - Deputy Minister Nguyen Minh Hang emphasized.

Vietnam sends to African countries and more broadly to international friends and partners a policy message about a country with an increasingly important role and position in the international arena, firmly entering a new era.

Since 2023, Vietnam has become an observer of the African Union (AU). Vietnam's peacekeeping forces have made important contributions to many hotspots in Africa such as South Sudan and the Central African Republic, earning the admiration and appreciation of the United Nations as well as local leaders and people.

At multilateral forums, coordination between Vietnam and Egypt, Angola and African friends and partners is very close.

The President's visit to Africa this time also affirms Vietnam's new stance of being ready to contribute more actively to peace, cooperation and development on the continent and in the world.

It is expected that President Luong Cuong will deliver important speeches at the Arab League and the Angolan Parliament, thereby conveying the policy message of a Vietnam that wishes to make greater contributions to world politics, the global economy and human civilization as General Secretary To Lam has repeatedly emphasized.

"Looking back at history, I am very optimistic about the future of our relations with Egypt and Angola as well as with our African friends and partners in general," the Deputy Minister shared.

Vietnam, Egypt and Angola have stood side by side to support each other in the past struggles for national liberation.

During his lifetime, President Ho Chi Minh had special affection for and always strongly encouraged the national liberation movements of African countries. In the hearts of African friends, including Egypt and Angola, the image of Vietnam is always associated with President Ho Chi Minh, General Vo Nguyen Giap, and the Dien Bien Phu victory that resounded throughout the five continents and shook the world.

Today, you are also very impressed with a successful Vietnam in innovation, development and international integration.

On that good foundation, bilateral relations and multilateral cooperation between Vietnam, Egypt and Angola have been developing increasingly well.

Not only giving each other political support and prioritizing economic, trade, expert, labor, health, and educational cooperation, we and Egypt and Angola also closely coordinate in international organizations and multilateral forums from the United Nations to the G77 Group, the Non-Aligned Movement, etc.

With such a solid foundation, Deputy Minister Nguyen Minh Hang believes that this visit by President Luong Cuong is an important milestone, opening a new chapter in relations between the two countries.
