The 75-year journey has witnessed different stages of development of Vietnam - Russia relations.
At the invitation of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin will pay an official visit to Vietnam from January 14-15. This is the first visit of Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin to Vietnam. The upcoming visit of the Russian Prime Minister is an important event in the bilateral relationship in 2025 to promote the implementation of major orientations to deepen the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership that were discussed and agreed upon by the two countries' senior leaders during the State visit to Vietnam by President Putin (June 19-20, 2024), and the phone call between General Secretary and President To Lam and President Putin (August 8, 2024). The visit takes place right before and opens a series of activities to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Russia (January 30, 1950 - January 30, 2025). This is a major event in the history of Vietnam-Russia relations. 75 years - since the two countries established diplomatic relations, President Ho Chi Minh made the first official visit to the Soviet Union and the two sides signed the first cooperation document (July 1955) - has been a long journey with many difficulties and challenges but also many proud achievements. Vietnamese Ambassador to Russia Dang Minh Khoi said that in the 75-year history of development of Vietnam-Russian Federation relations, in general, the exchange of high-level delegations between the two countries plays a very important role, not only as an opportunity for the two sides to discuss the orientation and major strategic goals of the two countries' relations, but also to remove obstacles in bilateral relations through political determination and strong direction of the two countries' senior leaders through visits. "The visit to Vietnam by Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin sends a message about the continuation of the positive trend in bilateral relations with regular meetings and contacts between senior leaders; demonstrating the will and determination of the senior leaders of the two countries in further developing the Vietnam-Russia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, enhancing cooperation, actively contributing to promoting development in each country, bringing essential benefits to the people of the two countries, for peace , stability and prosperity in the region and the world", said Vietnamese Ambassador to Russia Dang Minh Khoi. Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to Vietnam GSBezdetko said that over the past 75 years, Vietnam and the Russian Federation have accumulated a lot of experience, including unique experiences in mutually beneficial and diverse cooperation. The key factor to continuously develop and strengthen bilateral relations is regular and meaningful political dialogue at the highest level. "The visit of one of the top leaders of the Russian Federation to Vietnam on the eve of the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Soviet Union/Russian Federation and Vietnam (January 30, 1950 - January 30, 2025) is a symbolic event," Ambassador GSBezdetko said. "I believe that the meetings and negotiations of Prime Minister of the Russian Federation MV Mishustin with the leaders of Vietnam during this visit will create more momentum to strengthen cooperation between the two countries in traditional fields as well as new promising fields in the spirit of friendship, mutual understanding and comprehensive strategic partnership," Ambassador GSBezdetko shared.
