The event took place at a special time when ASEAN marked 10 years of the Community's formation, 30 years of Vietnam joining the "common home", and at the same time adopted the ASEAN Community Vision 2045 to move towards a new era.
ASEAN Secretary-General Kao Kim Hourn highly appreciated the role of the Forum as an important bridge to help the region quickly adapt to international fluctuations, and emphasized that this is one of the efforts to help ASEAN move forward firmly and maintain its central role in the regional structure.
Comments from international leaders and delegates also confirmed the spirit of creativity and solidarity that has been ignited across the region.
Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim stressed that ASEAN needs to “shine like a beacon of hope”, consolidate its central role and strengthen solidarity among its members. He highly appreciated lessons from Vietnam in maintaining balanced relations with major powers, promoting sustainable development of the country and the region.
As the country that proposed and promoted the Forum, Vietnam once again affirmed its proactive, responsible and creative role in orienting strategic issues of the region, while contributing to bringing ASEAN further on the global map.
Not only participating but also leading many important discussions, Vietnam has proposed practical solutions to enhance ASEAN's resilience to global challenges.
Through promoting cooperation and initiatives, Vietnam has contributed to arousing the strong determination and commitment of members towards an integrated, dynamic and self-reliant ASEAN.
Vietnam's 30-year journey in ASEAN is not only a story of successful integration but also demonstrates its ability to actively contribute to development and peace in the region.
During its two tenures as ASEAN Chair, Vietnam has contributed to leading ASEAN to overcome many challenges, providing important strategic directions, and at the same time serving as a bridge connecting member countries with major partners.
At the second ASEAN Future Forum, Vietnam continued to demonstrate its pioneering role with specific proposals on enhancing regional cooperation capacity, creating flexible response mechanisms to fluctuations, and encouraging the proactive spirit of each member country in the common development process.
ASEAN has become a strategic space and natural development environment for Vietnam, while Vietnam has always been an active and responsible member in consolidating solidarity, enhancing the central role and promoting sustainable development of ASEAN.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh affirmed: “The Vietnamese proverb says, ‘One tree alone cannot make a forest, three trees together can make a high mountain’. This is even more true in the current context when ASEAN and Vietnam are standing at a new historical starting point, together moving towards aspirational goals.”
Vietnam commits to being a proactive, active and responsible member in building a united, inclusive and resilient ASEAN Community, together realizing the ASEAN Community Vision 2045.
Together with member countries, partners and international friends, ASEAN will continue to write new proud pages in its development journey.
The success of the ASEAN Future Forum is not only a testament to intra-bloc cohesion but also helps ASEAN proactively adapt and develop sustainably in the new era, enhancing its position in the international arena.
