Dong Nai has more than 4.4 thousand doctors, still lacking compared to demand.

With a population of more than 4.4 million, the province currently has 3 provincial general hospitals, 3 regional general hospitals, 5 specialized hospitals, 22 regional medical centers, 6 provincial specialized centers, 95 commune and ward health stations, 175 stations and a hamlet and neighborhood health system.

The province also has 8 hospitals and medical facilities at the central, ministerial and sectoral levels. The private health system is strongly developed with 12 general and specialized private hospitals, 111 general clinics, more than 2,000 specialized clinics, more than 4,000 pharmacies, drug stores and medical service facilities.

Regarding human resources, up to now, the entire Dong Nai health sector has about 15 thousand medical staff (including both public and non-public). Of which, there are more than 4.4 thousand doctors, more than 7.3 thousand nurses, more than 2 thousand pharmacists...

The representative of the Department of Health said that compared to the scale of the hospital and the standard regulations of the Ministry of Health, the current medical human resources of the province are still lacking, not meeting both the quantity and quality requirements. Medical facilities from the province to the grassroots level still lack doctors, especially at the grassroots level.

The rate of health stations with doctors on the payroll has not reached the required number, and the ratio of doctors per 10,000 people is still low. Attracting doctors to work at health stations is very difficult.

Because most hospitals are concentrated in urban areas and economically developed areas, the medical workforce is unevenly distributed. Up to 92.5% of doctors are working at provincial, ministerial and sectoral health facilities, and only 7.5% of doctors work at grassroots health facilities.
