On the morning of October 22, the "Phan Thiet Marathon 2023 - Green Journey" officially started at 3:30 a.m. for the 42km distance, then the 5km, 10km and 21km distances also started with nearly 4,000 runners (long-distance runners) from provinces and foreign runners.
Previously, at the opening ceremony of the tournament last night, comrades Duong Van An - Member of the Party Central Committee - Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; Secretary of the Phan Thiet City Party Committee Pham Van Nam; Nguyen Minh - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee attended the ceremony.
This is the first Marathon organized by Phan Thiet City for runners to experience. Athletes will walk on the Phan Thiet - Mui Ne route, have the opportunity to feel the peaceful life in Mui Ne fishing village and experience the unique cuisine of Binh Thuan . This will be an ideal opportunity for athletes to relax and have fun right in the middle of the resort capital, while learning more about Binh Thuan through culture, cuisine and diverse experience services. After more than 5 hours, the competition events at distances of 5 km - 10 km - 21 km - 42 km were completed, in the excitement of the units and individuals participating in the tournament.

The starting and finishing locations are located at Mui Ne Summerland Urban Tourism and Entertainment Complex on Vo Nguyen Giap Street - one of the most beautiful coastal roads in Phan Thiet city, to create the most convenience for participating athletes.

Through the tournament, the Organizing Committee also implemented the campaign "Run with your smile" to raise funds for smile surgery to make the tournament more humane. Athletes can support by choosing the 99,000 VND photo combo package to download all high-quality photos without watermark. After deducting 30% of the operating costs for ENJOY SPORT, the remaining amount will be donated to the Operation Smile fund to perform free surgeries for unfortunate children born with cleft lip, cleft palate and other facial deformities in developing countries including Vietnam.
Mr. Nguyen Nam Long - Vice Chairman of Phan Thiet City People's Committee, said: The organizing committee hopes that the Phan Thiet Marathon 2023 will contribute to promoting the image of Phan Thiet tourist city closer to domestic and foreign tourists, in line with the spirit of responding to the National Tourism Year - Green Convergence. At the same time, the tournament will encourage local movements, promote the spirit of physical training and sports in the community and strive for this to be an annual sports tournament for many years to come.
