On the morning of June 30, at the International Center for Interdisciplinary Science and Education (ICISE, Quy Nhon Nam Ward, Gia Lai New Province), Professor Duncan Haldane (Princeton University, USA), winner of the 2016 Nobel Prize in Physics, had an inspiring exchange with students and teachers attending the International Conference "From Mekong to Ocean: Connecting the Young Generation of LabelFrancEducation High Schools".

Sharing in an open and friendly atmosphere, Professor Duncan Haldane emphasized that many famous scientists were inspired by a good teacher, a teacher who knew how to ignite the passion in each student. He advised: "Always be curious and don't be afraid of being wrong. In science , sometimes you discover something that everyone thinks is wrong. But if you persevere, the experimental results will be the final word."

For him, the greatest reward is not the Nobel Prize, but the moment of discovering something completely new. "The most wonderful feeling is when you understand something about the world that you never knew before. There is nothing like that moment in science," said Professor Duncan Haldane.

With faith in the future, he affirmed that science, technology and artificial intelligence (AI) will play a key role in helping humanity overcome major challenges such as climate change and the energy crisis. Professor Haldane especially supports nuclear energy and biotechnology, considering them practical solutions to adapt to new environmental conditions.

At the end of the talk, he sent a message to the younger generation: "Find what you are passionate about and pursue it to the end. That is the shortest path to success - not only in science, but in any field."

Also on the morning of June 30, the Advanced School of Quantum Topological Materials officially opened at ICISE. The event was organized by the Rencontres du Vietnam and ICISE in collaboration with the Asia-Pacific Center for Theoretical Physics (APCTP), taking place from June 30 to July 5, with the participation of nearly 40 scientists, graduate students and young researchers from 10 countries.

The highlight of this year’s school is the participation of many leading names in the theoretical physics world. In addition to Professor Duncan Haldane, there is also Professor Dam Thanh Son (University of Chicago, USA), a Vietnamese-American physicist, winner of the 2018 Dirac Medal; Professor Yoshimasa Hidaka (Kyoto University, Japan), who just received the 2025 Elementary Particle Physics Medal, along with many experts from Singapore, Korea, Hong Kong, etc.

The curriculum focuses on advanced areas such as topological band theory, quantum topological matter, modern approaches in quantum field theory, general symmetry, as well as applications of artificial intelligence in theoretical physics.
