Mr. Bae Ji-won - former assistant of coach Park Hang Seo - recommended Mr. Lee Young-jin as head coach of the Vietnam national team.
Mr. Bae Ji-won believes that Coach Lee has knowledge, experience and has proven his ability with Vietnamese football. Those factors will help Mr. Lee once again create remarkable achievements for Vietnamese football.
"Coach Lee Young-jin plays an important role in perfecting and implementing tactics under coach Park Hang Seo. He will be a candidate for the position of new coach of the Vietnamese national team," said Mr. Bae Ji-won.
Coach Lee Young-jin achieved success with Vietnamese football when working with Mr. Park Hang Seo
Mr. Bae Ji-won was part of coach Park Hang Seo's coaching staff when he first arrived in Vietnam. He and the Vietnamese players reached the final of the 2018 U23 Asian Cup, the semi-finals of the 18th ASIAD, and won the 2018 AFF Cup. After that, Mr. Bae worked as a coach at several teams such as Kitchee or The Cong Viettel .
Coach Lee Young-jin has been with Coach Park Hang Seo for more than 5 years in Vietnam. Mr. Lee is the number 1 assistant, considered Mr. Park's "right-hand man". He helped the Vietnamese team win the 2018 AFF Cup, reach the quarter-finals of the 2019 Asian Cup, reach the third qualifying round of the 2022 World Cup, win 2 SEA Games gold medals, reach the final of the 2018 U23 Asia,...
Currently, Mr. Lee is a member of the Korea Football Association's National Team Strengthening Committee, which is responsible for finding and providing professional advice to coaches of the Korean national teams.
Mr. Bae Ji-won believes that coach Lee Young-jin's knowledge will bring advantages when leading the Vietnamese team and continuing the success of his former colleague.
"Most coaches who have been successful in a football country are well aware of the environment of that country and the characteristics of the players. If a coach who has worked with a previous successful coach takes over the position, it will be easier for him to achieve his goals," said Mr. Bae. "Coach Lee understands Vietnamese football and the environment better than any other candidate."
In addition, Mr. Bae highly appreciated the expertise of coach Lee Young-jin. Mr. Lee participated in the World Cup twice as a Korean player. He also served as head coach for teams in the K.League.
