Van Don District: Completed handover of sea areas to 85% of aquaculture households

On the afternoon of March 25, Van Don district held a conference to hand over the decision to hand over the sea area under the district's authority to 85% of aquaculture households and individuals in the district .

At the conference, the Chairman of the District People's Committee handed over the Decision on allocating the sea area under the authority of the District People's Committee with an area within 3 nautical miles to 85 households and individuals in the sea area of Cai Rong town, Dong Xa commune, Ban Sen commune, with a total area of 23.7 hectares. Each household and individual is assigned less than 1 hectare (depending on the farming area). The assignment period is 10 years from the date of signing and issuance of the decision and there is no need to pay tax on the assigned sea area.

Speaking at the conference, Mr. Vu Duc Huong, Deputy Secretary of the District Party Committee and Chairman of the District People's Committee, requested households to fully comply with the procedures prescribed by law. Do not transfer the right to use the assigned sea area; do not lease or borrow the assigned sea area. Fulfill commitments to ensure security and order, traffic safety, and waterways at sea; protect and maintain the hygiene of the marine environment; replace and install floating materials that meet standards according to regulations and perform other tasks when requested by competent state agencies.

For areas beyond 3 nautical miles, he requested units and localities to confirm the sea area for households and units. At the same time, coordinate with provincial departments and branches to develop a plan for sea area allocation, complete environmental impact assessment to promptly report to the Provincial People's Committee to allocate sea areas for households and units to produce with peace of mind.

Handing over the Decision on allocating sea areas under the district's authority to households and individuals engaged in aquaculture in Van Don district.

With the active participation from the district to the communes and towns, Van Don is determined to complete the assignment of sea areas to aquaculture facilities in the area in the fourth quarter of 2025 in accordance with the provisions of the Fisheries Law. Thereby, not only strengthening the management and sustainable development of marine fisheries according to Directive No. 13 of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, but also contributing to the rapid recovery of the district's key economic sector.
