K-pop singer IU can now breathe a sigh of relief from plagiarism allegations against her, according to the Korea Times . Earlier this year, a musician filed a complaint with the Korean police, alleging that the singer had plagiarized six of his songs. The six songs were "Boo" (2009), "Pity" (2009), "Beautiful Day" (2010), "Red Shoes" (2013), "BBIBBI" (2018), and "Celebrity" (2021).

The law firm representing IU recently announced that the police have decided not to investigate the allegations because the complaint filed by the complainant does not meet the requirements to constitute a crime.

"Of the six songs cited, IU only participated in the composition of one song, and in that song, she did not participate in the part that the complainant claims copyright infringement," the law firm said in a statement.

"We judge that this incident was maliciously reported just to defame the artist and cause her mental pain. We have confirmed that some parties have spread false information with the intention of damaging IU's reputation. This incident is going in a bad direction targeting the female singer," the statement said.

Previously, the accuser claimed that IU had repeatedly refused to respond to various plagiarism allegations, instead choosing to report and delete all of them on social media for copyright infringement. Therefore, the accuser decided to file a police complaint after multiple accounts accusing IU of plagiarism were unreasonably taken down on social media platforms for copyright reasons.

IU's management company, EDAM Entertainment, also said that they will respond legally to irresponsible accusations based on false information.

IU debuted in 2008 with the album "Lost and Found." Her subsequent albums "Real+" and "Last Fantasy" in 2011 catapulted her to stardom. This year, Rolling Stone magazine ranked the singer at number 135 on their list of "The 200 Greatest Singers of All Time."
