The Ministry of Transport said that the section of National Highway 80 from Nga Ba Dinh Bridge (near the intersection with National Highway 91) with a length of about 2km belonging to the Investment Project to build the route connecting National Highway 91 and the Long Xuyen City bypass has been approved by the Minister of Transport and assigned to the My Thuan Project Management Board as the investor.
The Ministry of Transport said that the landslide repair project on National Highway 80 through Can Tho City is under construction and is expected to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2024 (illustrative photo).
In which, the section was renovated and the road surface was strengthened within the existing roadbed and surface and was completed in February 2024.
During the process of waiting for handover and synchronous operation with the Long Xuyen City bypass (from February 2024 to June 16, 2024), a landslide occurred on the roadbed over a length of about 42m.
This landslide section is the section running along the Cai San River before diverting to the Hau River. This is the last section of the river with quite complex hydraulic, hydrological and flow regimes, and weak geology, so the roadbed in this area is unstable.
"Immediately after the landslide occurred, the Ministry of Transport directed the My Thuan Project Management Board to coordinate with relevant local agencies to immediately implement temporary solutions; ensuring normal traffic in both directions on National Highway 80.
At the same time, the design consultant has been directed to conduct geological surveys and hydrological conditions to design solid works. Up to now, appraisal and approval have been completed and construction is being prepared, expected to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2024," the Ministry of Transport added.
