Round the world yacht race restarts from Ha Long

On the morning of March 2, the organizers of the Clipper Race held a ceremony to restart the 2023-2024 round- the-world yacht race, starting from the world heritage - natural wonder of Ha Long Bay (Quang Ninh, Vietnam) to Zhuhai (Guangdong, China).

At the restart ceremony of the Clipper Race round the world yacht race 2023-2024 season, paragliding performances, dragon and lion dances, and a luxury yacht parade on Ha Long Bay took place, attracting the participation of many locals and international tourists.

The Clipper Race began in October 1996 in Plymouth, UK. To date, the race has hosted more than 50 cities around the world.

In the 2023-2024 season, the race will be divided into 8 stages with 16 individual races and 6 ocean crossings.

Participating in the season are 11 racing boats to Ha Long Bay, including the racing boat of Quang Ninh team with the name: "HaLong Bay, Viet Nam".

Race No. 7, part of the 5th stage called "Asia-Pacific Challenge", has its starting point at Coral Sea Port (Queensland, Australia) and its destination is Ha Long Bay (Quang Ninh, Vietnam).

The 11 participating teams embarked on a 25-day voyage covering 4,515 nautical miles. By February 19, all 11 participating teams had completed race 7, leg 5 (2 days ahead of schedule). The “HaLong Bay, Viet Nam” team finished 5th and is currently ranked 6th in the overall standings.

Joining the racing team and becoming one of the destinations of the Clipper Race round the world yacht race in the 2023-2024 season has affirmed Quang Ninh's capacity in terms of experience, facilities, and expertise in organizing international-scale tourism and sports events.

The race restart ceremony also aimed to introduce and promote the image of Quang Ninh province's tourism as well as introduce opportunities, potentials, and investment attraction projects in the province to international friends and potential investors.

Quang Ninh identifies the race as one of the province's key tourism promotion, advertising and investment attraction activities in 2024 and the following years.
