Firefighters responded quickly to bring the fire under control on the warship. Later reports said one of the three officers was in critical condition.

HTMS Khirirat has served the Royal Thai Navy for more than 40 years, belonging to the 1st Frigate Fleet, Fleet Operations Command.

HTMS Chonburi completed the exercise on March 13 and returned to base for repairs, as one of the ship's guns malfunctioned during operations, with an unused bullet still stuck in the barrel, according to the Bangkok Post.

HTMS Chonburi is 213 m long, 28 m wide, with a maximum speed of 46.3 km/h. The ship can withstand rough seas and can accommodate up to 600 crew members.
