US President Joe Biden and government agencies are reassuring the public after a series of recent mysterious drone sightings on US soil.
A series of US agencies confirmed that recent UAV detections in New Jersey and other regions do not pose a threat to security or safety, according to AFP.
"We found nothing unusual and do not assess that this activity poses a risk to national security or public safety in the civil airspace over New Jersey or other northeastern states," the US Department of Homeland Security, the Department of Defense , the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) said in a joint statement on December 17.

The FBI has received 5,000 tips in the past few weeks, resulting in about 100 leads. The agencies said they have carefully examined technical data and information provided by the public, and have determined that the suspicious UAVs discovered so far are either legitimate commercial UAVs or drones used by hobbyists or law enforcement. In some cases, planes, helicopters, and stars have been mistaken for UAVs.
Many recent sightings of mysterious flying objects in the states of New York, New Jersey, Maryland, Virginia… have caused panic among the people. Some appeared near military bases.

Senior US officials have dismissed suggestions that the drones were foreign spy drones. President Joe Biden has insisted there is nothing nefarious about the cases. "There are a lot of legitimate drones. We're watching this closely. So far, there's nothing dangerous," Biden said.
President-elect Donald Trump previously suggested the government knew what was going on and hinted at a cover-up, but the Biden administration has dismissed the suggestion.
The FBI and the Department of Homeland Security have deployed infrared cameras and drone detection technology to ensure drones are flying over harmless areas. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and New York Governor Kathy Hochul have asked the Department of Homeland Security to deploy the Robin radar system to assist investigators.
According to ABC News, this is a modern radar system that has been deployed on the Ukrainian battlefield. Mr. Kris Brost, General Director of Robin Radar USA, said that the Robin system can detect and classify UAVs with manned aircraft, and track flight paths in real time. The radar has a range of nearly 5 km, and can detect flying objects at an altitude of 2-3 km.
