(Dan Tri) - Tran Vinh Khanh - the bronze medalist of the 2023 Asia -Pacific Informatics Olympiad received 524 million VND when enrolling at Ho Chi Minh City National University.

Tran Vinh Khanh (born in 2005, Quang Tri) is a former student of Quang Tri Town High School (Quang Tri province) who received a 500 million VND scholarship to encourage learning and 24 million VND in dormitory fees after becoming a computer science student at the University of Information Technology, Ho Chi Minh City National University.

This is the highest scholarship a public university has ever awarded to a new student.

According to Dr. Nguyen Tan Tran Minh Khang - Vice Principal of the University of Information Technology, Ho Chi Minh City National University, "The school creates the Comprehensive - Creative - Service scholarship to create the best learning conditions for potential students with the desire to contribute to training talents for the country in accordance with the mission of Ho Chi Minh City National University, of which the University of Information Technology is a member.

The scholarship level helps students to wholeheartedly devote themselves to studying and developing themselves without having to worry about financial problems in life.

From Olympia climbing to Olympic bronze medal in informatics

Vinh Khanh's learning path is worth learning. This male student missed the laurel wreath at the Road to Olympia 2022 but was not discouraged, always striving to conquer new challenges.

Khanh confided: "The Road to Olympia competition is a milestone and memorable memory for me. In that competition, I felt I performed quite well but unfortunately lost the prize.

At first, I felt sad and regretful. However, I thought positively to move towards a further goal. I realized that I had burned myself out with Olympia, from this milestone I must try to reach higher mountains."

In 2023, Khanh became the first non-specialized school student in the country to win a bronze medal at the Asia- Pacific Informatics Olympiad (APIO).

During the process of pursuing computer science and moving towards APIO, Khanh often felt sorry for himself because of the difficulties he encountered. To achieve good results, Khanh had to travel a long way to Hanoi to study for the exam. "When I first set foot in the big city, I felt bewildered and lonely. Sometimes I even felt dissatisfied and negative.

However, seeing my parents' hardships when they ignored material things, worked hard, and traveled to Hanoi to encourage me, I was finally able to escape those thoughts with the encouragement and help from my relatives," Khanh confided.

You can't choose where you were born, but you can choose how you live.

Sharing about his fate with computer science, Khanh said: "I have had a passion for computer science since first grade. At that time, I only used computers for entertainment and homework purposes.

It was not until I was in secondary school and was selected to participate in the district's excellent student competition that I discovered my talent in this field. Since then, I have maintained my passion until now. I always keep in mind the saying: "We cannot choose where we are born, but we can choose how we will live" to strive and make every effort.

According to Khanh, his journey to conquer his passion, like that of his other classmates, has gone through many ups and downs, joys and sorrows, and left many memories. As a boy born in the coastal "land of fire", when he first started pursuing IT, the male student encountered many difficulties. Vinh Khanh said: "At that time, I did not have my own computer and my IT studies were quite vague.

On the path of pursuing passion, everyone has to go through difficulties and I am no exception. The failure that I will always remember in my learning journey was when I missed the opportunity to join the national team in grade 10 because of a small mistake.

However, I think failure is not the end, we have the right to be sad, but we must use that as motivation to move forward."

Khanh said he was once discouraged with a field that required perseverance and effort like computer science. At those times, the male student would often find ways to relax instead of forcing himself.

Khanh thinks: "If I create enough colors for my life and manage my time properly, I will have enough ability to pursue something long-term."

Khanh said that in the future, the male student will continue to work in the information technology industry. The male student hopes that in the future, he can help young people who love information technology, especially in his hometown. "That helps me look back at myself in the past as well as express gratitude to those who have helped me during the years I pursued my dream."
