On March 7, news from Sa Dec General Hospital ( Dong Thap ) said that the hospital's doctors had just successfully removed a large plastic bottle, stuck deep in the anus of a 36-year-old male patient. This is the largest case of removing a foreign object stuck in the anus that the hospital has ever performed.

X-ray images show a large foreign object deep in the patient's anus.

Previously, at around 11:00 a.m. on March 6, a male patient named V. (36 years old, residing in Chau Thanh District, Dong Thap) was admitted to the emergency room with pain in the lower abdomen and inability to defecate.

Taking an X-ray, the foreign object was discovered to be a large plastic bottle (5 cm wide, more than 20 cm long) stuck deep in the patient's anus. The doctors administered deep anesthesia to remove the foreign object. Because the bottom of the bottle was large and stuck deep in the patient's anus, it took 45 minutes to successfully remove the plastic bottle.

Currently, the patient's health is stable and is expected to be discharged in the next few days.

Patient V. said that he used his hand to insert the plastic bottle into his anus to create a "strange" feeling, but accidentally inserted the bottle too far inside and could not be removed by himself. Afterwards, the patient felt pain and went to the hospital for emergency treatment.

Dr. Le Thanh Tien, Deputy Head of the Department of Surgery - Orthopedics, Sa Dec General Hospital, said that in cases of foreign objects stuck in the anus, if not treated promptly, it will be very dangerous. Foreign objects that cannot be removed will block the digestive tract, and if they cannot be digested, the abdomen will swell, causing intestinal obstruction and intestinal rot. Therefore, if the above situation occurs, the victim must quickly go to the hospital so that doctors can remove the foreign object as soon as possible.

According to Dr. Tien, the habit of inserting foreign objects into the anus is dangerous and people should not do it to avoid similar incidents.
