"Ukraine's arsenals are depleted. The US and NATO arsenals are depleted. You can see what is happening on the battlefield. Ukraine responds to 10 or 20 of our artillery shells with just a few shells," Konstantin Gavrilov, head of the Russian delegation at the Vienna talks on military security and arms control, said on December 30.

Mr. Gavrilov further emphasized that the West continues to provide missiles and air defense systems to Ukraine, but the scale cannot be the same as before. He predicted that the West will not increase aid to Kiev in the near future.

Nag officials say the West is starting to show signs of fatigue with providing aid to Ukraine in a protracted conflict.

Earlier this week, the US announced its final aid package for Ukraine this year worth $250 million. If the US Congress does not quickly approve a new budget, Washington will no longer have money to aid Kiev.

According to military analysts, in a prolonged war of attrition, Ukraine would be at a disadvantage compared to Russia due to its dependence on aid from the West.

Ukraine’s Finance Minister Serhiy Marchenko said earlier this week that the conflict with Russia is costing the country $120 million a day in security costs, mostly for defense, but also for other activities such as humanitarian aid and salaries.
