Ru Cha is a primeval mangrove forest in Huong Phong commune, Hue city (Thua Thien Hue province).
With a total area of about 5 hectares, Ru Cha is the only mangrove forest remaining in the Tam Giang lagoon system, the largest lagoon system in Southeast Asia.
According to the explanation of the locals, "Ru" means forest and "Cha" is the most typical tree here, accounting for more than 90% of the area.
Ru Cha has the function of preventing salinity, protecting aquatic resources and the mainland, and is considered the green "lung" of the eastern area of Hue city.
The ecosystem at Ru Cha is quite diverse and rich, typical of Tam Giang lagoon.
Located about 15km from Hue city center, Ru Cha is also a tourist attraction that attracts visitors from near and far.
Tourists come to Ru Cha to visit at different times of the year, but still like it best around early autumn, when the tea forest begins to change leaves.
