The garden of more than 500 yellow apricot trees of Mr. Hoang Dinh Tai's family (Co Dam commune, Nghi Xuan, Ha Tinh ) has had someone "deposit", promising to earn more than 500 million VND.
Mr. Hoang Dinh Tai (born in 1953) in Xuan Son village, Co Dam commune owns 500 yellow apricot trees and is the pioneer in bringing this tree species to grow in the "capital" of peach blossoms in Nghi Xuan. At this time, he focuses on taking care of and stripping the leaves so that the trees bloom in time for Tet. This year, the weather is favorable, the yellow apricot trees have begun to bud and are expected to bloom and show their colors on the occasion of Lunar New Year 2024.
Mr. Tai shared: He has planted more than 500 apricot trees since 2021. This is the first year I have harvested about 200 trees, serving the market demand during this year's Tet holiday. I will continue to take care of and shape the remaining apricot trees so that they will have higher value next year.
According to Mr. Tai, the yellow apricot tree is a tree with high economic value but is often infested with stem borers and leaf-eating worms. Therefore, he must regularly spray special pesticides in a timely manner. In addition, he must maintain a suitable irrigation regime, weed, fertilize, and prune branches for the tree to grow well.
According to Mr. Tai, although there is still more than a month until Tet Giap Thin, the apricot garden has had many visitors coming to see and "deposit" to keep the trees.
Apricot blossoms symbolize the vitality of spring, so they have a very high economic value. Depending on the size, on average, each apricot tree is being sold by Mr. Tai for 2.5 - 3 million VND, and is expected to earn nearly 500 million VND by the end of the year.
" The yellow apricot tree is a valuable traditional ornamental tree, loved by flower enthusiasts, and is suitable for planting on sandy soil. Therefore, after selling the upcoming Tet crop, I will continue to add more to supply the market next spring, " said Mr. Tai.
In addition to yellow apricot blossoms, Mr. Tai's garden currently has hundreds of peach blossom trees, many of which are 5-7 years old and will also bring high income to his family during Tet.
Mr. Hoang Dinh Tai in Xuan Son village was the first person to boldly bring yellow apricot trees to plant on peach blossom land in Co Dam commune. This is considered a breakthrough in production and business to diversify flowers and ornamental plants to develop household economy and increase income.
