Exactly 75 years ago, on March 19, 1950, at this very school, the late lawyer Nguyen Huu Tho read a historic speech, strongly condemning the crimes of French colonialism, and at the same time calling for solidarity among intellectuals, students, and people of Saigon - Cho Lon in the struggle for national independence.

According to Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City Nguyen Van Duoc, the speech on March 19, 1950 was not only a call of a patriotic intellectual, but also demonstrated the indomitable will of the Vietnamese youth generation during the period of struggle against colonialism and imperialism.

The protest was successful, forcing the US to cancel naval exercises and two US warships to withdraw that night, marking a turning point in the anti-American struggle of the people of the South.

From this event, the student movement spread throughout the South, marking an important turning point in the movement against US intervention in Vietnam.

Because of its great historical significance, March 19 was later called "National Anti-American Day" - a symbol of the Vietnamese people's indomitable spirit in the resistance war against imperialist invaders.

The March 19 event is not only the pride of Ten Lo Man High School but also a symbol of the indomitable spirit, patriotism and tireless fighting spirit of the generation of Vietnamese intellectuals and youth.

Over the past decades, this historic school located right in the city center has constantly innovated, improved the quality of education, trained many generations of excellent students, and actively contributed to the development of the city and the country.

Among them, many cadres trained at the school hold many important positions in the city, becoming famous businessmen and artists.

Mr. Nguyen Van Duoc suggested that the school promote the spirit of "good teaching, good learning" towards the goal of building a modern, advanced educational environment while still preserving good traditional values.

At the same time, pay attention to and take advantage of allocated resources to invest, renovate, upgrade, and gradually modernize facilities, equipment, and care for the lives of staff, employees, workers, and students, in order to better serve teaching, learning, and research in the new situation.

Mr. Nguyen Hung Khuong, Principal of Ten Lo Man High School, said that by 2030, Ten Lo Man High School will become an advanced and modern educational institution, a place to train students with five important qualities: patriotism, humanity, diligence, honesty and responsibility. Along with that is building the capacity for autonomy and self-study, communication and cooperation, problem solving and creativity.

The school builds a style of teachers and staff that is oriented towards professionalism, responsibility, dedication and love for students.

To his students, Mr. Nguyen Hung Khuong sent a message through the words of educator Jean Piaget: "The goal of education is not to increase knowledge, but to create people with the ability to be creative and innovative."

Experiencing the ups and downs of history, Ten Lo Man High School changed its name many times over the periods.

Before 1954, the school was named after Ton Tho Tuong, a poet during the French colonial period; from 1954 to 1962, the school was named after patriotic poet Phan Van Tri; from 1962 to 1979, the school was named after Co Giang, a heroine in the anti-colonial struggle movement in the years 1928-1930.

In March 1979, according to Decision No. 840/QD/UB of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, the school was officially named after Ten Le Mans - the leader of the German proletariat, an outstanding activist in the international workers' movement in the first half of the 20th century.
