Vung Ang 1 Thermal Power Plant has completed troubleshooting.

On August 13, information from Ha Tinh Oil and Gas Power Company said that after nearly 2 years of having to stop operations due to technical problems, on August 12, Unit 1 of Vung Ang 1 Thermal Power Plant (located in Ky Loi commune, Ky Anh town, Ha Tinh ) was repaired and officially reconnected to the national grid.

Putting Unit 1 back into operation is of great significance in ensuring national energy security and serving the development of the country's economy .

Vung Ang 1 Thermal Power Plant

Vung Ang 1 Thermal Power Plant is the largest coal-fired power plant in the Central region, consisting of two generators with a total capacity of 1,200 MW. The plant began construction in late December 2006, with a total investment of nearly 1.6 billion USD, with the Vietnam Oil and Gas Group (PVN) as the investor. In September 2015, the plant was inaugurated and put into operation.

In September 2021, Unit 1 encountered a technical problem and had to temporarily stop operating until now. After the incident occurred, the Ministry of Industry and Trade issued a document directing PVN and the Oil and Gas Power Corporation (PVPower) to urgently fix the problem.

Domestic and foreign experts focus on troubleshooting unit 1

The management and operation unit, Ha Tinh Oil and Gas Power Company, then organized the selection of contractors and signed contracts with foreign contractors to implement a plan to handle the incident of Unit 1. After nearly 2 years of efforts to fix and repair the unit, Unit 1 has now been put back into operation.

The prolonged incident of Unit 1 of Vung Ang 1 Thermal Power Plant has affected the industrial development index of Ha Tinh province. In recent reports on Ha Tinh's socio-economic development, it has been mentioned many times that the industrial index has decreased due to the incident of Unit 1 of Vung Ang 1 Thermal Power Plant.
