Promoting unique advantages
Lam Vien Ward - Da Lat was established on the basis of merging 3 old wards including Ward 8, Ward 9 and Ward 12 of Da Lat City (old). The merger streamlined the management apparatus and created a large-scale, concentrated agricultural production area, convenient for planning and orienting the development of high-tech agriculture (NNCNC) in a synchronous and unified manner. The locality has the advantage of ideal natural conditions with a temperate climate, fertile soil, suitable for developing key crops such as vegetables, flowers, strawberries, artichokes... Farmers here are famous for their diligence, creativity and willingness to approach and apply scientific and technical advances in production.
In fact, in recent years, people in Lam Vien Ward - Da Lat have gradually shifted from traditional production to high-tech application, forming greenhouse models, drip irrigation, organic farming... The implementation of high-tech flower villages in Thai Phien, Ward 12 and some areas in Ward 8, Ward 9 (old) is clear evidence of this positive change. The strong development of NNCNC has brought many benefits. That is, increasing productivity and product quality; saving investment costs thanks to production according to the value chain; reducing adverse impacts from weather, increasing land use efficiency; increasing income for farmers. Many households have proactively grasped the market, accessed smart technology, built product brands and expanded consumption channels through e-commerce. However, the implementation of NNCNC in Lam Vien Ward - Da Lat is still small-scale, lacking synchronization in technology investment. Many development models are still spontaneous. Technical infrastructure such as transportation, electricity, and irrigation have not kept pace with production growth. The formation of new cooperatives and cooperative groups is slow; farmers still have difficulty accessing preferential credit packages...

Towards circular, sustainable agriculture
Although administrative mergers create favorable conditions in terms of planning, they pose an urgent need for a clear, synchronous and appropriate orientation for the development of NNCNC in each region. To maximize the potential and advantages, and at the same time, overcome the existing limitations, Lam Vien Ward - Da Lat has developed a strategy for the development of NNCNC until 2030 with specific and sustainable orientations. The Party Committee and People's Committee of Lam Vien Ward have developed a focus on planning clean vegetable and high-tech flower areas in Thai Phien and Da Thien - places with favorable geographical conditions and farming traditions. The ward aims to form an organic production area with traceable origins, linked to the inner-city supply chain and agricultural tourism activities.
Mr. Nguyen Quang Hai - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Lam Vien Ward - Da Lat shared that the locality has promoted the implementation of smart technologies in farming such as: environmental sensors, automatic irrigation systems controlled by phones, electronic diaries. The ward encourages farmers to use e-commerce platforms and social networks to consume agricultural products, expand domestic and foreign markets. These are the contents that farmers in the digital age need to maximize. The ward has reviewed and merged existing cooperatives to form cooperatives with sufficient legal capacity, capable of receiving investment and linking with businesses and banks, contributing to building a closed production - consumption chain. The locality concretizes, promotes training, technology transfer and capital support; recommends that competent agencies expand preferential loan packages, especially green credit for environmentally friendly agricultural production...
In the strategy of developing NNCNC, Lam Vien ward - Da Lat does not stop at the goal of increasing productivity but aims at a circular agricultural model, where resources are reused to the maximum, waste is treated or recycled effectively and production is associated with environmental protection. This is also a direction in line with the orientation of developing green agriculture, ecological agriculture of Lam Dong province and the whole country in the new period.
Along with the development of NNCNC, Lam Vien Ward - Da Lat has determined the direction of linking agriculture with eco-tourism, experiential tourism, at the same time, ensuring environmental protection, preserving the typical landscape of Da Lat. This is an inevitable development trend to diversify income sources, create more added value for agricultural products and promote sustainable tourism. Many models combining agricultural production and tourism exploitation such as: visiting flower gardens, high-tech strawberry gardens, experiencing organic vegetable farming... have initially formed and brought positive effects. Visitors not only enjoy the green space but also directly learn about modern production processes, thereby increasing the reliability and ability to consume products on the spot.
In addition, the requirement for environmental protection in agricultural development is increasingly focused. Solutions such as: using organic fertilizers, reducing pesticides, reusing irrigation water, treating agricultural waste, developing renewable energy in farming... are being applied by many households and cooperatives. This contributes to preserving natural resources, creating the image of Lam Vien Ward - Da Lat not only as a center for NNCNC production but also as a green, environmentally friendly agricultural area, in harmony with the unique tourist space of Da Lat.
