Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council Nguyen Nhu Khoi presented gifts to support people in flooded areas of Nhon Mai and Huu Khuong communes.

On August 5, Mr. Nguyen Nhu Khoi - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council, together with representatives of the Department of Health and Aikya Pharmaceutical Company, directly visited and presented gifts to support people in Nhon Mai and Huu Khuong communes. These are the localities that suffered the most damage after the recent historic flood.

At the visited locations, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council Nguyen Nhu Khoi and the delegation kindly inquired about the health and lives of the people, and deeply shared their losses.

On behalf of the provincial leaders, he presented practical support gifts, including: Essential medicines worth 100 million VND; medical equipment worth 30 million VND to the health stations of 2 communes, including 4 oxygen generators, portable mini ultrasound machines, blood sugar testing machines and other medical instruments.

At the same time, 26 gifts (each worth 1 million VND) were presented to families who suffered heavy losses in Nhon Mai and Huu Khuong communes. The gifts and money were donated by Aikya Pharmaceutical Company, the Liaison Committee of Dai Dong Commune Association in the Southern region and Nguyen Dung Construction Joint Stock Company.

Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council Nguyen Nhu Khoi praised the locality's efforts in limiting human losses, gradually overcoming the consequences of storms and stabilizing life. He requested the local government to continue to review and provide timely support so that no one suffers from hunger or illness after the flood. For medical stations, it is necessary to ensure timely distribution of medicine to the right subjects.

According to the report of the People's Committee of Nhon Mai commune, the flood caused extremely serious damage.

The entire commune had one person killed, an elderly woman named Vu Y Xia, 78 years old, in Huoi Co village; 73 houses were swept away or completely buried, 23 houses were severely damaged, 142 households had to be urgently evacuated and 116 houses were located in areas at high risk of landslides. Traffic infrastructure was severely damaged, including the steel truss bridge in Nhon Mai village being swept away, completely isolating 64 households with 225 people.

Many roads, including National Highway 16, were eroded and cut off, making it difficult for relief efforts and access to villages. Public facilities such as schools, clinics, electricity and telecommunications systems were also severely damaged. Total property damage in the commune was estimated at nearly VND788 billion.
