The special affection for the country and people of the S-shaped land has become an indispensable part of her life.

As an Associate Professor, Doctor of History and an expert on Vietnam, Ms. Thananan Boonwanna has conducted many research works on Vietnamese history that have been highly appreciated by Thai scientists, contributing to the dissemination of Vietnam's domestic and foreign policies and viewpoints as well as Vietnam's policies and views on territorial sovereignty over the two archipelagos of Truong Sa and Hoang Sa of Vietnam in Thailand.

When asked about the reason for wanting to popularize research works about Vietnam in Thailand, she said: “I remember the first days in Vietnam, everything was new and strange. However, the friendliness and hospitality of the Vietnamese people made me feel at home.

Right after graduating and returning to Thailand, I realized that Thailand and Vietnam are two brother countries. Thai people of Vietnamese origin have a long history in Thailand, but due to some objective reasons, many Thai people do not fully understand Vietnamese history and culture, and there are also more and more Thai people of Vietnamese origin who cannot speak Vietnamese.

This is what motivated me to develop Vietnamese language and culture in Thailand. I want to let everyone know that there is a Vietnam like that, friendly, hospitable and with a long history.

For Associate Professor Dr. Thananan Boonwanna, Vietnam is not only a place for her to study and research but also a second homeland as her husband is also Thai but has been working in Vietnam for more than 30 years.

Perhaps, it is what she experienced and researched in Vietnam as well as the times she represented Vietnamese researchers in Thailand to debate in scientific conferences to defend Vietnam's policies and viewpoints that created her special feelings and unforgettable memories for Vietnam.
