On the afternoon of July 31, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs , Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son received Cambodian Ambassador to Vietnam Chea Kimtha.

At the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son highly appreciated the strong developments in the relationship between the two countries in recent times. The meetings between the high-ranking leaders of the two Parties and Governments have oriented the relationship between the two countries to develop with increasing trust and closeness, and the mechanisms of cooperation and people-to-people and local exchanges have been effective.

The Deputy Prime Minister suggested that the two sides coordinate to organize well the visits of the two countries' senior leaders; affirmed that Vietnam is ready to welcome the Cambodian leaders to attend the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam as well as co-organize well the 21st meeting of the Vietnam-Cambodia Joint Committee on Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation in Cambodia and the 13th Conference on Cooperation and Development of Vietnam-Cambodia Border Provinces; coordinate to resolve the remaining points in the Vietnam-Cambodia land border; strengthen economic cooperation, promote border gate connectivity, transportation, tourism and people-to-people exchange.

Fully agreeing with the assessment and proposal of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister Bui Thanh Son on the relationship between the two countries, Ambassador Chea Kimtha emphasized that the two countries need to increase information sharing and cooperation in preventing cross-border crimes, especially online fraud crimes.

On this occasion, Ambassador Chea Kimtha shared the results of negotiations between Cambodia and Thailand in Malaysia, emphasizing that the two sides had agreed to a ceasefire agreement; affirming that Cambodia will strictly comply with this agreement and Cambodia's policy of desiring long-term peace and stability with Thailand and other countries in the region.

The Cambodian diplomat thanked countries, including Vietnam, for actively promoting and promptly speaking out in support of the two countries reaching a ceasefire agreement, including the speech by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister Bui Thanh Son at the reception celebrating the 30th anniversary of Vietnam becoming an ASEAN member on the evening of July 28.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister Bui Thanh Son welcomed Cambodia and Thailand for reaching a ceasefire agreement, affirming that this is an initial success that creates a favorable premise for the two countries to restore peace and move towards resuming cooperation between the two countries in the coming time. Sharing the damage and loss of the two countries, especially civilians, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister Bui Thanh Son affirmed that Cambodia and Thailand are both close friends of Vietnam; hoping that both sides will exercise restraint and resolve disagreements by peaceful means on the basis of international law, the United Nations Charter, the ASEAN Charter and the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in East Asia (TAC).

Ambassador Chea Kimtha highly appreciated Vietnam's readiness to play an active role in helping Cambodia and Thailand implement the ceasefire agreement and cooperate in the spirit of ASEAN friendship and solidarity, for the long-term interests of both sides and the region.
