Quang Ngai seeks ways to bring the OCOP brand far and wide

Quang Ngai currently has 640 OCOP products from 3 to 5 stars, aiming to promote digital transformation and trade promotion to bring products further and enhance their value.

According to the latest statistics of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Quang Ngai, after the consolidation of administrative boundaries, Quang Ngai currently has 640 OCOP products with 3 to 5 stars that are still valid, of which 2 products meet the national 5-star OCOP standard.

Specifically, before the merger, the old Quang Ngai had 350 3-5 star OCOP products, the old Kon Tum had 290 3-4 star OCOP products. After the merger, the new Quang Ngai province has a total of 640 OCOP products meeting the standard of 3 stars or higher, including: 2 5-star products, 48 4-star products and 590 3-star products.

Two 5-star OCOP products representing the locality are Ly Son garlic produced by Phu Sinh Trading and Service Company Limited, and Quang Ngai malt (mantose sugar) produced by Quang Ngai Dental Factory, a branch of Quang Ngai Sugar Joint Stock Company. These are all products with unique advantages, which have affirmed their brands in domestic and foreign markets.

In order for the OCOP program to continue to be effective in the new period, Quang Ngai is restructuring its apparatus and building specialized OCOP organizations at the commune, ward and special regions levels. In parallel, there are solutions to improve the quality of key products, expand the value chain, and increase the application of high technology and biotechnology in production and processing.

The province has identified digital transformation and trade promotion as important spearheads to bring OCOP products to a wider market. Policies on capital, training, and technical advice will be designed to suit the conditions of each region and each product group, with priority given to supporting typical products and potential for star upgrades.

These steps aim to strengthen the OCOP program to become a driving force for sustainable rural development, contributing to increasing income and improving people's lives in the context of Quang Ngai entering a new development stage after the merger.
