Specifically, from September 3 to 9, U23 Vietnam will participate in the qualifying round of the 2026 AFC U23 Championship at home. Here, U23 Vietnam is in Group C with the participation of U23 Yemen, Singapore and Bangladesh.
Coach Kim Sang Sik and his team's mission is to win the top spot in the group, thereby getting a ticket to the final round of the 2026 AFC U23 Championship in Saudi Arabia.
In this group, U23 Vietnam is rated the highest. However, U23 Yemen and Singapore are not easy to bully.
The two teams mentioned above are considered the main opponents of U23 Vietnam in competing for tickets to the final round of the 2026 AFC U23 Championship.
The 2026 AFC U23 Championship qualifiers will feature 44 teams divided into 11 groups. The teams will compete in a round robin in each group to select the 11 group winners and 4 second-place teams with the best results in each group to compete in the final round.
After finishing the 2026 AFC U23 Championship, Vietnam U23 will embark on a journey to conquer the 33rd SEA Games gold medal in Thailand in December. With the Southeast Asian U23 Championship, Vietnam U23 is expected to regain the gold medal after losing to Indonesia at the 2023 SEA Games.
