VnExpressVnExpress31/03/2024

After a period of injury and missing the Vietnam national team, goalkeeper Dang Van Lam returned to the starting lineup when Binh Dinh tied Ho Chi Minh City 1-1 in round 14 of V-League 2023-2024 on the afternoon of March 31.

Dang Van Lam was injured in the 1-0 win over Hai Phong in round 8 on December 27, 2023, causing him to miss the 2023 Asian Cup. After recovering, he continued to have problems when Binh Dinh lost 0-2 to host SLNA in round 9 on February 18. The Vietnamese-American goalkeeper therefore missed two matches of Vietnam losing to Indonesia in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers - Asia region.

After a period of injury treatment, today Dang Van Lam returned to Binh Dinh to face Ho Chi Minh City in round 14. That timely return helped coach Bui Doan Quang Huy strengthen the defense when they just said goodbye to two defenders Ngoc Bao and Thanh Thinh, who moved to Nam Dinh .

On his return, Van Lam still had a good sense of the ball, continuously commanding the home team's defense. However, he was punctured by Ho Chi Minh City foreign player Santiago Patino in the 38th minute after a face-off. Early in the second half, Alan Alexandre headed the ball into Patrick Le Giang's net to equalize for Binh Dinh.

In the 58th minute, Van Lam had a brilliant reflex, using his fingertips to cut the ball away for the home team from a tricky shot by midfielder Vo Huy Toan of Ho Chi Minh City. The home team then had a few more chances but their shots were inaccurate, thereby having to share points with their opponents. The team from the land of martial arts is currently in fourth place with 22 points, 10 points behind the leading team Nam Dinh.

"My injury is fine and I played the full 90 minutes," Dang Van Lam shared. "However, we are very sorry that we had to share points at home. Recently, the team has had players leave and new players arrive. Through this match, we will get in sync with each other to play better in the next match against Nam Dinh."

In the match at the same time at Thanh Hoa Stadium, Hanoi Police Club defeated the home team 2-0 with goals from Montimor in the 67th minute and Phan Van Duc in the 90+5th minute. This victory brought Kiatisuk's team to third place with 25 points, seven points behind the top of the table Nam Dinh.
