China began developing the J-10 in the 1980s, and it is believed to be based on the Israeli Lavi or F-16A/B fighter prototype. The J-10 fighter first flew in March 1998 and went into production in 2002, with more than 480 units produced.

This fighter jet can reach a maximum speed of Mach 1.8 (1.8 times the speed of sound), a ceiling of 17,000 m, a range of 2,950 km and a combat radius of 1,240 km. This fighter is equipped with a 23 mm GSh-23 cannon, 11 weapon hardpoints that can carry air-to-air missiles, air-to-ground missiles, conventional bombs and guided bombs.
