Ukrainian President uses "nuclear chess piece" to pressure Mr. Trump, openly demands NATO to send troops to join the war

Recently, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky revealed information about his meeting with Republican US presidential candidate Donald Trump during a meeting in September in Washington DC

According to the leader, Mr. Trump "listened and said it was a fair argument."

Citing the Budapest Memorandum, which Ukraine agreed to in 1994 to give up its nuclear arsenal in exchange for security guarantees from Russia, the United States and the United Kingdom, Mr. Zelensky said the deal left Ukraine without a nuclear shield, while other powers maintained their nuclear arsenals.

President Zelensky also affirmed that he would choose NATO membership over pursuing nuclear weapons.

Because he has not chosen the nuclear option, the head of the conflict-ridden Eastern European country announced that his country has initiated a package of non-nuclear deterrence measures on its territory to pressure Russia into negotiations, as well as to defend itself against future military actions.

The measure is part of the Victory Plan he presented at the European Council, which proposes deploying deterrent missile systems on Ukrainian territory to force Russia to negotiate peace or destroy Russian military facilities if negotiations are rejected.

“We have shared all the details with our partners, such as the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Germany and Italy, and we are willing to share them with any leader who is ready to support Ukraine,” President Zelensky said, adding that Ukraine would only implement the deterrent package if Russia did not end the conflict.

Ukraine's victory plan includes five main points: inviting Ukraine to join NATO, strengthening defense, containing Russia, increasing strategic economic potential, and replacing US military forces in Europe with Ukrainian units after the conflict ends.

At another press conference with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte on the same day in Belgium, he called on the military alliance's member countries to send troops to supplement the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (VSU).

“Our message to all countries is to prepare brigades, they can be a reserve force and can replace our tired people on the battlefield,” he said.
