Armed Forces Hero Ho Dac Thanh, former Captain of Heroic Ship C41, along with many delegates attending the ceremony, offered incense and laid wreaths in memory of the heroic martyrs who heroically sacrificed their lives at the historic Vung Ro wharf area.

60 years ago, the army and people of Phu Yen were ordered by the Central Government to receive unnumbered ships from the North to supply weapons and ammunition to the Phu Yen battlefield and the provinces of Dak Lak and Khanh Hoa in the resistance war against the US to save the country.

Delegates performed the wreath-laying ceremony in memory of martyrs at the Vung Ro No-number Wharf relic site.

From November 1964 to February 1965, Vung Ro port successfully received 3 unnumbered ships codenamed C41, commanded by Captain Ho Dac Thanh, supplying nearly 200 tons of weapons to the battlefield. The 4th ship, codenamed C143, commanded by Captain Le Van Them, after successfully docking and receiving the goods, but did not have time to return due to a broken anchor and had to camouflage the port again. When discovered by the enemy, our army proactively destroyed the ship and sank it into the sea to protect the secret.

With the great historical significance of Vung Ro Wharf, on June 18, 1997, the Ministry of Culture and Information (now the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism) recognized this place as a national historical relic.

The ceremony of gratitude and laying wreaths in memory of the martyrs who sacrificed to protect Vung Ro wharf and the unnumbered ship demonstrates the morality of remembering the source of water, aiming to propagate and educate today's generation about the glorious feats and achievements of the legendary Vung Ro wharf - the unnumbered ship and the miracle of the Ho Chi Minh Trail at sea; to honor and express gratitude for the great contributions and contributions of the heroic martyrs.
