Repairing Yen Bai bridge across the Red River, on National Highway 37

The total investment for the Yen Bai Bridge Repair Project is over 24.8 billion VND, including items such as reinforcing pillars; repairing local damage to the bridge to maintain the project's operational capacity and ensure traffic safety.

It is expected that in August, contractors will start repairing Yen Bai bridge.

According to information from the Department of Construction, implementing Decision No. 782/QD-CDBVN, dated June 11, 2025 of the Director of the Vietnam Road Administration on approving the Technical Economic Report and the contractor selection plan for the project: Emergency repair of Yen Bai bridge at Km280+500, National Highway 37, the Director of the Department of Construction has approved the Contractor Selection Plan for the packages: Construction of works, construction insurance and consulting package for auditing and final settlement of works under the Yen Bai Bridge Emergency Repair Project at Km280+500, National Highway 37.

Regarding the repair plan, based on the existing bridge, the contractor will reinforce pier T5 (add 10 bored piles D = 1.2m; add supporting steel under the old pier base with shaped steel combined with prestressed bars and regular steel, expand and strengthen the pier base with specialized concrete...); add 2 warning pillars, limit collision upstream of pier T4 and T5. In addition, based on the current condition of the bridge, the contractor will repair local structural damage to maintain the ability to exploit the project.

Yen Bai Bridge was invested in construction since 1990.

It is known that the total investment for the Yen Bai Bridge Repair Project is 24,853 billion VND. The project will be implemented in 2025 and 2026. The contractor will start construction from August 2025 when all conditions are met.

During the repair of Yen Bai bridge, vehicles including trucks and passenger cars with more than 7 seats will not be allowed to pass through the bridge.

Yen Bai Bridge across the Red River, on National Highway 37, connecting Yen Bai city with the western part of the old Yen Bai province, was started in January 1990 and completed and put into use at the end of 1992. Due to the impact of storm No. 3 (2024), Yen Bai Bridge was seriously damaged, forcing the suspension of traffic of trucks and passenger cars with more than 7 seats, affecting people's lives and the transportation of goods for socio-economic development.
