The Hindu newspaper quoted Foreign Minister S Jaishankar on June 11 as saying that Bharat First (India First) and Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam ( The World is One Family) will be the two mottos in India's foreign policy during the third term of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government led by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

The head of India's Ministry of External Affairs expressed confidence that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, "Modi's foreign policy 3.0 will be very successful".

Highlighting the agenda for foreign policy 3.0, Mr S Jaishankar said India's focus would be on finding solutions to the ongoing border issues with China as well as the persistent cross-border terrorism issue with Pakistan.

Referring to the above-mentioned world upheavals related to the Russia-Ukraine conflict and West Asia, he commented: “Our country is in a very chaotic, divided world… A world full of conflicts and tensions” and this “will really position us as a country that many people trust, prestige and influence will increase as well as interests will be enhanced”.

Referring to India’s bid for permanent membership in the UN Security Council, S Jaishankar said the current leadership would “definitely enhance” the country’s global profile. He said earlier this year, the world had a feeling that India had won the Security Council seat, and the country “will have to work harder” to achieve that goal.

New Delhi's global influence, according to the Foreign Minister's assessment, "is steadily increasing, not only in terms of our perception but also in the thinking of other countries."

Countries feel that “India is a true friend” and “in times of crisis, if there is one country that stands by the global South, it is India”.
