TPO - Prof. Dr. Hoang Anh Tuan, Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, sent a congratulatory letter for the new school year 2024 - 2025 to students when the school canceled the opening ceremony to save funds to support people in flood-hit areas.
In the letter, Professor Hoang Anh Tuan wrote: "Typhoon Yagi disrupted the opening ceremony and welcoming new students of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. Like the students, the teachers are truly regretful about a warm annual event of the University, which was supposed to take place on the occasion of the full moon in August this year.

Regret, however, is just a passing, everyday emotion. It is quickly replaced by the warmth of human love with thoughtful greetings and timely donations, for the sake of "national love and compatriots" as Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh called for.
Mr. Tuan said that the school has canceled the opening ceremony, and the funds have been combined with donations, of which 200 million VND has been sent to the people through the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and Hanoi National University; 348 million VND has been given to 116 students of the school who are facing difficulties due to storms and floods; more than 1 billion VND from partners sponsoring students on the occasion of the new school year 2024-2025 will continue to be considered by the school and granted to students with excellent academic achievements, policy beneficiaries, and those in difficult circumstances...
On behalf of the School, Mr. Tuan thanked the sympathy of teachers and students in flexibly adjusting the unit's teaching plan to adapt to the recent natural disasters.
