BTO-On the morning of August 12 in Phan Thiet City, the Farmers' Association of Binh Thuan Province coordinated with the Central Committee for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (Vietnam Farmers' Association) to organize a technical workshop on soil and plant nutrition. Attending the workshop were a delegation of experts from the Netherlands-based Prins Land, Water and Agriculture Consulting Company, domestic experts, representatives of the Provincial Agricultural Extension Center, and Farmers' Associations of districts and communes implementing the project.
The main content of the workshop was to share information related to plant nutrition and the benefits of soil testing in production. Accordingly, domestic experts and experts from the Netherlands shared some studies on the application of near-infrared spectroscopy technology in agricultural science; soil analysis testing using innovative technology.
At the same time, it presents how to use fertilizers effectively in managing plant nutrition... It emphasizes that soil and plant nutrition have a close relationship with each other. Based on the analysis and testing of soil, it is the basis for supplementing necessary and reasonable nutrients for plants to grow well, reduce carbon emissions, reduce production costs and improve the quality of exported fruits, increasing economic value.
It is known that this is part of the Project to Enhance the Quality of Vietnamese Fruits chaired by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Farmers' Union and provided aid by the Netherlands-Vietnam Medical Organization (MCNV). In which, Binh Thuan, along with Long An, Dong Thap, and Ben Tre provinces, were selected by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Farmers' Union to implement the program. The program will be implemented from December 2021 to November 2024. The project budget is over 4.1 billion VND, including the budget managed by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Farmers' Union, implementing over 2 billion VND and the budget managed by MCNV, implementing over 2 billion VND, equivalent to 80,105 Euro.
The project aims to improve the position of dragon fruit, mango and grapefruit farmers in several provinces and cities of Vietnam, based on the application of innovative and sustainable measures, practices and technologies, targeting high-end domestic and international markets.
The project results in at least 600 farmers being enhanced with advanced knowledge and techniques in irrigation management, pesticides and fertilizers, and soil quality management. At least 4 demonstration models were built in the project. In recent times, in Binh Thuan, the models of “sustainable green dragon fruit production”; “environmentally friendly rice production” and “intensified durian cultivation in the direction of biosafety” have been implemented to improve the quality of agricultural products when competing in the market, creating good opportunities for export.
