Xuan Son extended for 6 more years
On the evening of April 24, Nam Dinh Club announced the decision to extend the contracts with a series of key players of the team. Among them, the longest-term contract was reserved for Nguyen Xuan Son. The striker born in 1997 signed an agreement that will last until 2031.
With a 6-year contract, Xuan Son is almost certain to commit the rest of his career to the Southern team. Because when the contract ends, he will be 34 years old.

This was also Xuan Son's initial wish, when the 28-year-old striker affirmed that he loved the football atmosphere at Nam Dinh Club and was happy with his life here. Xuan Son once refused an offer to play abroad to stay at Thien Truong Stadium, where he had the opportunity to prove himself at the age of 23. After that, Xuan Son overcame many hardships to become the most excellent striker in V-League history, breaking a series of scoring records.
Xuan Son played for Nam Dinh in 2020, then moved to Da Nang and Binh Dinh. By mid-2023, Xuan Son returned to Nam Dinh when he and the team had changed. Xuan Son became a real "killer", welcomed by many teams with red carpets. Nam Dinh Club is no longer a "poor but good student" team, but has enough potential to give Xuan Son a better salary and quality teammates.
That "remarriage" brought about a perfect result, with Nam Dinh winning the 2023 - 2024 V-League championship, Xuan Son's top scorer title with 31 goals, and a "brown-skinned, black-eyed" Vietnamese citizen contributing to bringing the national team to the top of the 2024 AFF Cup.

Xuan Son is still recovering from an injury (suffered in the second leg of the 2024 AFF Cup final against Thailand). He is in phase 3 of the recovery process. This is the time when the 28-year-old striker will begin exercises to strengthen his injured leg, while maintaining his overall fitness. According to the consultation results, Xuan Son is recovering very well. It is expected that by September, he will be able to return to the field.
A series of Nam Dinh Club pillars have new contracts
Besides Xuan Son, Nam Dinh Club also extended contracts with a series of key players such as goalkeeper Nguyen Manh, Van Vi, Hoang Anh, Thanh Hao, Caio Cesar, Van Kien, Hong Duy. The contract period mainly lasts until 2028 and 2029.
This is a move to ensure a solid future for the pillars, and stabilize the spirit during the fierce championship race with opponents such as Hanoi Club, Hanoi Police Club, Thanh Hoa or The Cong Viettel .
Nam Dinh FC is only 2 points ahead of Hanoi, after drawing 0-0 with bottom team Da Nang away in the previous round.
Round 20 will take place at 6pm on April 26, Nam Dinh Club will face Binh Duong at Thien Truong Stadium. In the first leg, coach Vu Hong Viet and his team won 4-1 against Binh Duong right on the away field.
