11 provinces and cities issued urgent dispatches to respond to storm No. 10

The latest news from the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting said that at 7:00 a.m. on December 24, the eye of the storm was located on the southwestern border of the central East Sea; the strongest wind near the eye of the storm was level 8, gusting to level 10.

In the coming hours, the storm will mainly move in the West-Southwest direction, at a speed of 5-10km/hour. It is expected that at 7am on December 25, the storm will approach the sea area from Khanh Hoa to Binh Thuan ; wind speed will be level 6-7, gusting to level 9 and gradually weaken into a tropical depression.

Due to the influence of storm No. 10, from the morning of December 24 to the night of December 25, the area from Da Nang to Khanh Hoa will have moderate rain, heavy rain, locally very heavy rain and thunderstorms; rainfall is generally from 70 - 170mm, locally over 300mm. Warning of the risk of local heavy rain (>100mm/6 hours).

According to a quick report from the Border Guard's Civil Defense - Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue Command, as of 6:30 a.m. on December 24, 60,340 vehicles/356,035 people had been notified, counted, and instructed to know the developments and direction of the storm so that they could proactively move to avoid and escape from the dangerous area. Vehicles in the affected area have received warning information and are moving to avoid.

Based on the telegram issued by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development on the evening of December 23, 11 provinces and cities have issued telegrams directing responses to storm No. 10, including: Phu Yen, Ninh Thuan, Binh Thuan, Ba Ria - Vung Tau, Ho Chi Minh City, Tra Vinh , Tien Giang, Ben Tre, Soc Trang, Ca Mau, Kien Giang.

Pham Duc Luan, Director of the Department of Dyke Management and Natural Disaster Prevention and Control (Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development), said that the unit is still organizing a serious duty shift (24/24 hours); monitoring and transferring disaster forecast and warning bulletins to localities for proactive prevention and response.

In the coming hours, the Department requests coastal provinces and cities from Phu Yen to Ca Mau to proactively respond to storm No. 10 according to Official Dispatch No. 9801/CD-BNN-DD dated December 23, 2024 of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development. At the same time, regularly report the situation to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development for timely response instructions.
