(CLO) At least 21 people were killed in riots that broke out after Mozambique's Constitutional Court on Monday confirmed the ruling Frelimo party's victory in the recent election.
The information was announced by Mozambique's Interior Minister, Pascoal Ronda, on Tuesday evening.

The Constitutional Court’s decision has sparked a new wave of nationwide protests by opposition groups and their supporters, who allege that the election was rigged to ensure victory for Mozambique’s long-ruling party, Frelimo.
So far, 78 people have been arrested. Interior Minister Pascoal Ronda said armed forces and security forces have been deployed in key areas across the country to control the situation.
"The armed forces and defense forces will increase their presence at key points to ensure security," Mr. Ronda said on TVM channel.
Images captured showed protesters setting fire to barricades on the streets in many areas, especially in the town of Luis Cabral in the capital Maputo.
Frelimo has been accused of electoral fraud several times by political opponents and election observers. However, the party has always denied the allegations.
