A group of teenagers in California have been arrested after a video emerged on social media showing them assaulting three Marines.
The Orange County Sheriff's Department in California said on May 30 that it had arrested five teenagers, including four men and one woman, for allegedly attacking three US Marines at the San Clemente Pier on the evening of May 26.
Police said they found three marines in civilian clothes injured when they arrived at the scene. Video of the attack later shared on social media showed the soldiers surrounded and punched by about 40 teenagers.
The soldier in a black tank top lay curled up on the ground, holding his head, as the group of teenagers kicked him repeatedly.

According to the Marines, they were walking on the pier when they encountered a group of teenagers and asked them to stop setting off fireworks. The crowd then followed the soldiers and insulted them.
"We told them we were Marines, but they wouldn't leave," said Hunter Antonino, a Marine who was attacked. As Antonino turned his back, a teenager charged at him.
After a moment's hesitation, Antonino fought back, knocking down his attacker. The crowd immediately erupted, beating them repeatedly until all three marines fell to the ground.
Orange County police said five suspects were taken to juvenile court on charges of assault with a weapon.
"As the suspects are minors, no further information about them will be released at this time," police said, adding that investigations are underway to identify additional suspects involved.
