Speaking at the joint meeting of Foreign Ministers and Trade Ministers of APEC member economies , Mr. Pankin stated: “The BRICS Summit in Kazan demonstrated the aspirations of the global majority to create a fair world order, reform global institutions and build fair economic relations.
A solid package of agreements has been reached on trade, investment, artificial intelligence, energy and climate, logistics. Our APEC colleagues – Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand – have become partners of the Association.”
As BRICS partner countries, these countries will regularly participate in special sessions of BRICS summits and foreign ministers' meetings.
In addition, BRICS member countries can also invite partner countries to participate in other ministerial-level events in many areas such as trade, national security and parliamentary forums. Partner countries can also agree to BRICS joint statements, thereby enhancing the group's international standing.
Regarding Vietnam, at the regular press conference of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the afternoon of October 31, Deputy Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Doan Khac Viet answered questions about Vietnam being on the list of BRICS partner countries and the prospects for cooperation with this bloc.
“As an active and responsible member of the international community, Vietnam has been actively and responsibly contributing to the mechanisms of multilateral organizations and forums, contributing to peace, stability and development in the region as well as in the world, in accordance with Vietnam's interests and needs,” said Mr. Doan Khac Viet.
Vietnam will study information on BRICS partnership status. Vietnam's participation in regional and international multilateral cooperation mechanisms is always studied and considered on the basis of suitability with Vietnam's interests, conditions and capabilities.
