Ba Ria - Vung Tau province and UAE's DP World Group have signed a memorandum of understanding to cooperate in building a free trade zone project associated with a seaport in Cai Mep Ha.

On the afternoon of February 18, at the headquarters of the Ba Ria - Vung Tau Provincial Party Committee, representatives of the provincial government and DP World (UAE) signed a memorandum of understanding. From here, the two sides will discuss in detail and sign a cooperation agreement to develop a project "Research on a free trade zone associated with a seaport in the Cai Mep Ha area".
This is to concretize the resolution of the Politburo and the action program of the Government on socio-economic development and ensuring national defense and security in the Southeast region until 2030, with a vision to 2045.
As well as realizing the Prime Minister 's decisions related to the planning of the Southeast region and Ba Ria - Vung Tau province for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050.
Mr. Nguyen Van Tho, Chairman of the People's Committee of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province, assessed that this event marked an important milestone, not only the beginning of the cooperative relationship between Ba Ria - Vung Tau province and DP World, but also deepened the good cooperative relationship between Vietnam and the UAE.

The Chairman of the People's Committee of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province said that with its world-leading reputation and experience in the field of logistics and seaports, DP World is an ideal strategic partner of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province.
Mr. Glen Hilton, CEO of DP World Asia - Pacific, affirmed that Ba Ria - Vung Tau is a province with great potential for seaports and logistics services.
"We are excited to share our experience and capabilities to build and develop the full potential of Vietnam's first free trade zone. I am confident that DP World's contributions and capabilities will help build a prosperous economic hub, helping the local economy grow rapidly," Mr. Glen Hilton pledged.

According to experts, the free trade zone associated with the seaport in Cai Mep Ha will take advantage of Ba Ria - Vung Tau's strategic location and contribute to the development of the logistics, seaport, and international trade industries, while increasing the ability to attract foreign investment.
Operator of 20 free trade zones
It is known that DP World has invested, managed and operated about 20 economic zones/free trade zones associated with seaports. This enterprise does business in 170 countries worldwide.
Notably, DP World is the unit that manages and operates the Jebel Ali free trade zone associated with the Jebel Ali international seaport in Dubai. This is considered one of the most successful free trade zones in the world.
