Bac Giang: Handling 164 violations in the peak month of anti-counterfeiting

BAC GIANG - Implementing the peak period of the fight to prevent and repel smuggling, trade fraud, counterfeit goods, and infringement of intellectual property rights (from May 15 to June 15, 2025) under the direction of the Prime Minister, the functional branches under the Steering Committee 389 of Bac Giang province and the district-level steering committees inspected 228 cases; of which 164 cases with 165 violators were detected and handled.

Specifically: Administrative sanctions were imposed on 159 cases and 159 individuals for producing and trading counterfeit goods, goods infringing intellectual property rights, committing commercial fraud, violating food safety regulations and other violations (total administrative fines, liquidation of confiscated goods and tax collection of more than 9 billion VND); 5 cases and 6 defendants were prosecuted for producing and trading counterfeit goods such as food, cosmetics, pesticides and storing smuggled cigarettes.

Authorities inspected a facility on Dong Cua Street, Le Loi Ward ( Bac Giang City) trading in goods of unknown origin.

Some typical cases include: Luong Thi Hang, Tan My ward (Bac Giang city) was prosecuted for the crime of "Producing and trading in counterfeit food products"; Duong Dang Tan, Dai Lam commune (Lang Giang) traded in laughing gas of unknown origin and was fined 120 million VND; business household Tran Thi Hang, Bo Ha town (Yen The) traded in smuggled clothing of unknown origin and was administratively fined 32.5 million VND...

In the first 6 months of 2025, the functional branches under the Provincial Steering Committee 389 and the Steering Committees 389 of districts, towns and cities have promoted coordination, inspection and examination of 932 cases; detected and handled 835 cases with 849 violators. Of which, 804 cases and 804 subjects were administratively sanctioned (total amount of administrative fines, liquidation of confiscated goods and tax collection of nearly 109 billion VND); prosecuted 31 cases with 45 defendants for acts of manufacturing, storing and trading in counterfeit, fake and prohibited goods.

In the coming time, the authorities will continue to strengthen coordination, information exchange, verification, investigation, handling, and combating smuggling, trade fraud, counterfeit goods, and infringement of intellectual property rights, especially in the e-commerce environment. Focus on prominent groups of products such as food, cosmetics, functional foods, fertilizers, and pesticides. Focus on inspection and post-inspection to change the awareness and business and consumption behavior of organizations and individuals.
