After the earthquake in Taiwan (China), the Overseas Labor Administration requested businesses to coordinate with partners and employers in this market to review and verify the safety of workers sent by the business. At the same time, continue to monitor the aftershocks in the coming days to have a plan to ensure the safety of workers.

On April 3, 2024, Taiwan (China) experienced the strongest earthquake in the past 25 years with a magnitude of 7.2. The Taiwanese government (China) warned that there may continue to be strong aftershocks in the next few days.

To warn and protect the legitimate rights and interests of Vietnamese workers working in Taiwan (China), on April 3, 2024, the Department of Overseas Labor Management (Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs) issued an official dispatch requesting businesses providing services to send workers to work in this market to strictly implement the following.

Firstly, coordinate with partners and employers in Taiwan (China) to review and verify the safety status of workers sent by the enterprise and continue to monitor the aftershocks in the coming days to have a plan to ensure safety for workers.

Second, report to the Department of Overseas Labor Management and the Vietnam Labor Management Board for guidance, support and timely handling of the case, if any.

Taiwan (China) is among the top 3 labor markets that receive the most Vietnamese workers. In 2023, this market received more than 58,600 Vietnamese workers. In the first 3 months of the year alone, nearly 9,800 Vietnamese workers came to work here.
