On the evening of September 6, U23 Vietnam had a resounding 6-0 victory over U23 Guam in the opening match of Group C of the 2024 AFC U23 Championship qualifiers.
U23 Vietnam faced many difficulties in the first half against Guam.
After the impressive performance, coach Troussier and his team received many compliments from the Indonesian press.
“The match ended with a convincing score in favor of U23 Vietnam. Although only leading by 1 goal in the first half, the 5-goal feast came in the second half after strong attacking efforts of U23 Vietnam.

Meanwhile, Suara Merdeka newspaper reported that U23 Vietnam had the biggest win in the first round of the 2024 U23 Asian qualifiers.
Another newspaper, Mantrasukabumi, commented that although they had difficulty penetrating the opponent's defense in the first half, when they got into the rhythm, the red-shirt players showed incredible strength against U23 Guam.

With the victory over U23 Guam, U23 Vietnam temporarily leads Group C with 3 points and a goal difference of +6.
In the second match, coach Troussier and his team will face U23 Yemen on September 9 at Viet Tri Stadium ( Phu Tho ).
