Cambodia attracted 5.37 million international tourists in the first 10 months of 2024, up 22% year-on-year, according to a report released by the Cambodian Ministry of Tourism .
The Khmer Times newspaper today, December 4, quoted the above report saying that Thai tourists ranked first in the number of foreign tourists to Cambodia from January to October with 1.72 million visitors, down 14.9% compared to the same period last year.
According to the report, about 1.08 million Vietnamese tourists and 691,736 Chinese tourists visited Cambodia during this period, up 31.6% and 52.5% respectively.

About 1.9 million foreign tourists, or about 35.5 percent of total foreign visitors, arrived in Cambodia by air, up 27 percent year-on-year, and the remaining visitors arrived by land and water.
The increase in foreign tourist numbers reflects the efforts of the ministry and other stakeholders to promote tourism, according to Top Sopheak, spokesman for the Cambodian Ministry of Tourism. He attributed the growth to more connecting flights, making it easier for tourists to travel to Cambodia.
“The growth in foreign tourist arrivals reflects that Cambodia’s tourism industry is recovering,” Mr. Sopheak stressed.
Previously, the Cambodian Ministry of Tourism set a target of welcoming 7 million foreign tourists by 2025, exceeding the 6.6 million recorded in 2019.
Tourism contributes about 13% of Cambodia’s GDP. In 2019, before the Covid-19 pandemic, Cambodia welcomed the highest number of international tourists at 6.61 million.
Last year, Cambodia welcomed 5.45 million foreign tourists, generating total revenue of $3.08 billion, according to the Cambodian Ministry of Tourism.
