Brain-Life Introduces Head-Worn Device to Solve the Problem of Distraction and Mental Health

VHO - On July 19 in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnamese-founded technology startup Brain-Life held a media briefing about its product Brain Life Focus+, the first smart head-worn device in Vietnam that helps measure brain waves, identify brain states and provide personalized interventions.

Notably, this device is researched, developed and manufactured entirely in Vietnam, but according to European scientific standards, with the goal of popularizing mental health care technology to each individual.

Overview of Brain Life Focus+ launch

Brain-Life Focus+ uses EEG, fNIRS and PPG sensors to record data on brain waves, cerebral blood flow and heart rate – three indicators that directly reflect the state of concentration, fatigue, stress or exhaustion.

Unlike smartwatches that only measure heart rate or sleep, this device allows for real-time “reading” of brain activity – a technology previously only available in neuroscience labs.

Currently, most mental health technology solutions on the market stop at tracking sleep, counting steps, or providing quiet content such as meditation or breathing exercises.

They are less likely to respond in real time and cannot accurately measure psychological states - especially stress, overload or distraction - which directly affect the quality of learning, work and daily life.

Dr. Vi Chi Thanh affirmed that Brain-Life's mission is to bring advanced mental health care technology to the masses.

Brain-Life is changing that. We are building a head-mounted platform that uses advanced neurosensor technology such as EEG (electroencephalogram), fNIRS (optical brain blood flow sensor) and PPG (heart rate), combined with artificial intelligence to measure the state of mind in real time.

Going beyond just “knowing,” Brain-Life also provides personalized interventions to help users adjust, regain focus, reduce stress, or avoid burnout – at the right time, in the right way.

Dr. Vi Chi Thanh, founder and CEO of Brain-Life, an international expert in HCI, BCI and machine learning - with more than 45 scientific research projects, said: “We want to bring this technology closer to the community, especially teachers, students, and workers in Vietnam, who are under high pressure but have little access to quality mental health care services.

Brain-Life is more than just a technological device – it is a bridge between neuroscience and life applications, designed for people and for a healthier society.”

Brain-Life Focus+ is cheap but the quality is not cheap

According to Dr. Vi Chi Thanh, the biggest difference of Brain-Life Focus+ is its ability to popularize technology that is extremely expensive.

While traditional medical EEG devices cost thousands of dollars and require experts to use, Brain-Life Focus+ costs between $150 and $200, is compact, easy to use, and has been tested in the UK, France, the US, and Vietnam.

“Brain-Life's mission is to bring advanced mental health technology to the masses, not just limited to large labs or hospitals.

To do that, we have to solve the double problem: low cost - but quality cannot be cheap," Dr. Vi Chi Thanh shared.
